The Presidents Corner
Too quickly the merry month of May is approaching. This is a very
significant month, with an extremely busy agenda. First of all,
Col Coleman, Capt Graaveson, L/Col Leo Gray and I will be
attending the MOAA Florida Council Convention at Cocoa Beach
on 2-4 May. The rest of the month will be devoted to presenting
JROTC awards to deserving Hich School Cadets and Midshipmen in
Broward County. The program is proceeding very well, thanks to
the response for assistance from members of the Chapter. To
date we have presented 11 awards and have 15 more to go. Again I
wish to stress the importance of this program to our Chapter and
to the High Schools and the outstanding students. To the
Officers who volunteered their time and made the effort to make this
project a success, please accept my thanks and appreciation.
This is the last issue of Officers Call until October. I wish you all
a joyful and healthy Summer, and bon voyage if you plan to travel.
Charlotte and I will be leaving for Europe on 28 May for about 6
weeks. The highlight of our trip will be visiting the
beautiful Rhineland where we first met, in the merry month of
May many eons ago. During my absence, Col Coleman, Past
President will assume my responsibilities because our first Vice
President will also be out of town.
Last but not least, I want to alert those who have not renewed
their membership in our Chapter. I am sure that this is an
oversight on your part. Please send in your dues as soon as
possible otherwise it will be necessary to drop you from our rolls,
an action which we are reluctant to take. We urgently need your
membership to keep our Chapter viable. We, your fellow
officers, in the Broward County Chapter and in the greater
MOAA community need your aswsistance in supporting the
legislative program which has been instrumental in acheiving and
protecting numerous health benefits. Your membership is of
extreme importance. We do not want to lose you.
Your President |
